Around 8:30am on Wednesday 27th May 2009, the fire brigade were called to a fire at a boatyard in Maylandsea. As the fire quickly took hold, more than 75 firefighters were on the scene tackling the huge blaze which was apparently caused by a stray spark getting into a heap of sawdust where the carpentry work was done. I got there while the firemen were still damping down. As you can see from the pictures, the building was gutted and the main structure has completely collapsed.
