Around 1pm on Sunday 27th December 2009, approximately 200 people from all walks of life decided to join in for the mud race at Maldon in Essex. This is an annual event that raises thousands of pounds for several different charities. The race this year was started by Fatima Whitbread, the contestants have to find there way by running, crawling or slithering the 500 or so yards that takes them across the Blackwater estuary at low tide, along the other side and then back across the water again to the finish line. The first person to finish took around 4 minutes while the last person took almost an hour. It looked like it was a lot of fun, and it was absolutely freezing.
