Here are the pictures from this year's Race for Life Harlow in aid of Cancer Research held on Sunday 10th May 2009.
Cancer, It’s a word that we have all heard of and we all know someone somewhere who has it or has died of it. Apart from that, most people including me don’t give it a second thought, it is just another one of the illnesses that can kill you.
Well, when I attended the Race for Life fun run at Harlow Town Park in order to photograph the event, I initially had the attitude that it was just another event raising money for something or other. After a while walking around the field as people were getting themselves ready for the run I started to realise exactly how many people were actually present, I walked round reading the little pink notes that the runners had attached to their backs and suddenly started to realise that there were over 3000 people taking part in this race and everyone had a note on their back that was dedicated to someone who had died or are ill from Cancer.
It brings it home to you really quickly when you realise that this event was a tiny little area compared to the world, and in that area were over 3000 women who have been touched by Cancer. If you have never given to charity before for whatever reason, just look at the following pictures and read some of the dedication notices pinned on the back of these runners. Please give whatever you can now.
